November 2024 Local Election Endorsements
Lafayette City Council (6 candidates running for 4 seats)
Although I will not be running for re-election to the Lafayette City Council, I endorse the following individuals whose diverse expertise will combine into an effective governing body for our city:
- Mayor Gina Dawson has been a strong and caring leader, constantly thinking about what is best for residents of Lafayette. Open-minded, thoughtful and collaborative, she has championed community safety and the financial sustainability of our city.
- Carl Anduri is our most experienced legislator, serving 3 times as Mayor during 14 years of council service since 2002. A retired attorney, Councilmember Anduri has been a role model in his professionalism, preparation & ability to listen carefully and synthesize complex issues.
- John McCormick owns a local music store, is past President of the Chamber of Commerce, and volunteers for several non-profits. Lafayette recognized him as one of our shining stars in 2022 as Businessperson of the Year. He brings strong analytical ability and a deep interest in Lafayette’s history and its future.
- Jim Cervantes brings a 34-year career in helping California cities with their financing programs. He has volunteered in city, county & statewide roles, most recently chairing our General Plan Advisory Committee to chart Lafayette’s future.
East Bay Regional Parks District Ward 2
- Lynda Deschambault. An EPA scientist and program manager, former Town of Moraga Mayor, and dedicated environmental advocate, Lynda is perfect for this role.
California State Senate (District 9, Steve Glazer’s open seat)
- Marisol Rubio, let’s vote for fresh energy in Sacramento. I also love her stand on the issues.
Thank you,
Wei-Tai Kwok

Election Update (July 1, 2024)
Vice Mayor Wei-Tai Kwok will not seek Re-election to Lafayette City Council
Due to increasing work-related responsibilities and travel, as well as the growing needs of my aging parents, I have decided to not seek re-election for another term on the Lafayette City Council.
It has been an honor to serve residents of the Lafayette community in helping to address the myriad issues facing us, including housing availability, public safety, wildfire risk, pedestrian and bicycle safety, fiscal sustainability, inclusivity, climate and more.
Thank you to the members of the community for supporting me in my public service role, most especially my wife Violet for her immeasurable support and sacrifice.
For the remainder of my term, I will continue to work diligently on the important matters that will be coming before the Council this year. I encourage you to stay in touch with me on all the issues we care deeply about.
With appreciation,
Wei-Tai Kwok
